REVIEW: Insane
“…When reality and dreams collide with the past and present…it’s Insane…”
Friend and Director Massimiliano (Max) Cerchi is one busy man at the moment with lots of projects on the go and releases slowly trickling through.
He kindly offered his 2016 installment “Insane” up for review and my thoughts.

Now anyone who knows Max’s previous work will know it’s quite obvious that he is a long-time fan of the horror genre and will often pay tribute to past movies. Having perhaps been considered low budget in the past, he breaks away from that trend with a more shall we say “upmarket” look in this one.
The trailer that was released some time ago has one scary looking clown in it and that combined with the shot on video look are popular with many at this point in time. Add a surname Myers into the mix and you know that Max is paying tribute rather than copying.
Play.
Look at what I bought.
And you look at that voluptuous figure…
With a real “bounce”…
Captured on camera.
In a new house.
Broken in.
As a jack in the box sits lonely…
Forgotten.
Neighbours and real estate agent providing the house’s history…

After the deal is done.
A “done” deal.
Killer.
Sign your life away.
Haunting and leading to intrigue.
A headache may stop sex on tape…
But it won’t stop…
Haunting…
And death.
Hear the jack in the box…
Play.
Teasing.
Things that go bump in the night.
Caught on surveillance and connecting with the spirit world?
“What the fuck did I see?”
Is seeing really believing?
Or are you simply…
Losing your mind?
As you merge with your thoughts…
Personal. Mission. Discovery.
And sharing a laugh at another’s expense.
Realisation of an inevitable consequence…
Of actions…
In moments of…
Insanity.
At a running time of approx. 67 minutes with some outtakes to boot, this one is heavy on story and raising the tension to find out what it is that you have actually “got.”

Far from gory, this one relies on other visuals and bumps to give you your “kick.” It won’t be enough for some, but that clown is one scary looking mother – alas we just don’t see enough of “him”…
Perhaps more of him and a few more kills would make this one leave you more satisfied?
I wanted him to unleash and really go “Insane”…
But he did the clown franchise a fine favour in maintaining one hell of a look and the story line keeps you guessing until the very…
End.
Star of one of our most popular TV soaps, Emmerdale, Dominic Brunt is known in every household here in the UK. On top of this, he's also forging quite a reputation as one of the best indie horror filmmakers in Britain - his directorial debut feature, Before Dawn, was very well received upon its release in 2013 and more recently his second feature, Bait, has accumulated plenty of critical acclaim worldwide.
