Cathedrals will fall, the river will run red... and THE BIRD will be SLAUGHTERED!

Actress Lydia Kay - WiHM

Women In Horror Month 2016

We’re asking our favorite Horror Icons three specific questions:
Why Film? What’s been their favorite project to-date? And what we’ll be looking forward to next…

Lydia Kay.

Lydia has been a good friend to The Slaughtered Bird ever since our early, tentative steps in 2013, being one of the first to interview for the site, and has remained a loyal supporter ever since.

One of the most proactive actresses we know, things are going from strength to strength for our busy Brit! Thankfully she found some time lately to answer 3 questions for our Women In Horror feature…

SB: Why film?

LK: I’ve wanted to do screen work for as long as I can remember. I love how creative you can be with it, you can literally create your own world and your imagination is the limit. Being on set is my favourite thing! It’s exciting and so much fun! Plus I’m a fan of hard work so it’s great when you get a role you can really throw yourself into.

I started my journey doing independent film and immediately became addicted to the process, which can be anywhere between extremely organised to complete and utter chaos haha! But the best thing about indie film is that everyone who is working on the film is usually so passionate about the project, and that’s a fantastic environment to work in. Your cast and crew become a bit like a family and I’ve met some wonderful people and incredible talent along the way

“You can literally create your own world and your imagination is the limit.

SB: Your favorite project to-date?

LK: It would have to be Christmas Slay because we got to travel out to the middle of nowhere in Bulgaria and film for two weeks there. I don’t get the chance to travel too often (which I’m hoping will change) so it was a fantastic experience. We lived and filmed on location for the whole time and regularly got covered in large quantities of blood, which is always a lot of fun!

SB: What’s next on the horizon?

LK: I’m currently in the process of filming Invasion of the Not Quite Dead which is a major passion project for me. It’s been a long hard struggle to get this film made and the clips that I’ve seen so far are just fantastic. Very excited to be working with such an exceptionally talented, hard working and dedicated team on this film and absolutely cannot wait for the day that everyone will be able to see the finished thing!

INTERVIEW: Dominic Brunt
BD Still Star of one of our most popular TV soaps, Emmerdale, Dominic Brunt is known in every household here in the UK. On top of this, he's also forging quite a reputation as one of the best indie horror filmmakers in Britain - his directorial debut feature, Before Dawn, was very well received upon its release in 2013 and more recently his second feature, Bait, has accumulated plenty of critical acclaim worldwide. The Slaughtered Bird presents BURN!
Burn Slaughtered Bird Creations and Dragon Egg Media’s debut film collaboration, Burn, has wrapped and entered post-production. INTERVIEW: Uwe Boll
uwebolljpg-64b556_1280w Director Uwe Boll shouldn’t need much of an introduction to film fans. Quite the controversial figure, it seems if he’s not making films that divide opinion, he’s pissing off the people that are. I was privileged enough to speak to Uwe recently and, well, I’ll let you decide if he’s the contentious character you may think he is… Read on...

CELEBRATING Women In Horror Month 2016!
uzKv0e0j Let’s open with a baffling misconception: Women are new to the filmmaking trenches. What?! Why this fallacy spread, we’ll never understand. How it spread is by omission; and, such seemingly passive silence can be dangerously aggressive. Read on...
