Cathedrals will fall, the river will run red... and THE BIRD will be SLAUGHTERED!

About Us

The Slaughtered Bird is the brainchild of cousins Chris Barnes and Stephen Harper, and was founded in late 2013. There were thousands of other film and horror websites across the UK, but nothing connected to the city in which they reside – Liverpool.

After a lot of research, late nights and advice from industry insiders, The Slaughtered Bird was born. Starting out briefly as a blog, it quickly became a fully-fledged website.

With a wealth of knowledge on horror, comic books and film in general, the site has come a long way in such a short time – forever learning the complex ropes and expanding at a rapid speed!

In the past few years, The Slaughtered Bird has sponsored and attended some of the UK’s biggest and best conventions and festivals, interviewed and hung out with some of the biggest names in the genre, and established itself as one of the leading independent websites in the UK.

In 2016, we produced our first film – short psychological horror , BURN, written by Chris – which will be released later in the year. For more details, give the project a follow on Twitter: @BurnShortFilm!

The Slaughtered Bird is going from strength to strength and has not only become the biggest indie-horror website in Liverpool, UK, but also one of the biggest in the country.

We have also recently teamed up with our friends over at UK Horror Scene to create our very own film festival, Triple Six – May 27th/28th at the AMC Cinema in Manchester.

  • Sick site. The attitude and kick ass film reviews make it original and raw. And as for the artwork, some of the best shit I’ve seen to date.

  • A great site , enjoyed reading the interviews. Well done !

  • Hey! Great site, this is what’s needed to give independent film makers a place to discuss ideas and perhaps collaborate with others. Maybe even organise a meet up in a pub in the Liverpool area, this is where ideas can take form and people can meet other like minded (deranged or otherwise 😉 film lovers and makers. Great stuff, keep up the good work! Beep Beep!

  • The Slaughtered Bird is my go to horror website. When I’m looking for news, great reviews, Folklore, The Blue Took and The Viking Lord has it all!

    Tom Slick says Thumbs up!

  • Hi guys, me and the Enigmatic Productions team have a horror comedy campaign live on Indiegogo at the moment. A film about a killer garden gnome so could be something that’ll interest you guys 😉 should be pretty fun to make too if we can raise the funds. If you could help us out at all that would be great, here’s the link: http://igg.me/at/sinisternicky

INTERVIEW: David Naughton
untitled It’s not every day you get to speak to the lead actor in possibly your favourite horror film of all time. Especially on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are usually rubbish! David Naughton should need no introduction to horror fans. Back in 1981, An American Werewolf In London had unprepared cinema goers laughing heartily one second and jumping out of their seats in terror the next. Its tale of two young American tourists coming face-to-teeth with a legendary lycanthropic beast perfectly married a genuinely funny script with razor sharp editing, groundbreaking special effects and a flawless cast to create a monster movie that is still many people’s benchmark today Read on...
