Cathedrals will fall, the river will run red... and THE BIRD will be SLAUGHTERED!

Women In Horror Month 2016

We’re asking our favorite Horror Icons three specific questions:
Why Film? What’s been their favorite project to-date? And what we’ll be looking forward to next…

Actress/Stuntwoman/Director/Producer Natalie Jean.

Where do I begin with how proud I am to know this lady? There are some people in this industry whose work ethic blows me away. From her commanding Producer duties on The Cemetery and Cross Bearer films (all while playing Lead characters in both) to her mesmerizing modeling to screenwriting to directing… and did I mention she’s a professional Stunt Performer (Noah, Black Swan, Gotham, Men in Black 3)? Groundpoundin’ iconoclastin’, indeed!

SB: Why film?

NJ: I’d like to think it’s some deep-seeded, divine connection I have to the muse, that I was simply born for it, but it’s probably more because it’s just my favorite thing to do, combined with being the right variation of crazy to stick with it through the constant abuse. I grew up performing and producing on stage, and when I found my way into film accidentally I just fell in love with the creation process that was a larger scale version of theater. It’s not always a mutual love - sometimes film seems to be very uninterested in me - but like a clingy girlfriend I just keep showing up, and eventually it gets tired and just gives in.

SB: Your favorite project to-date?

NJ: I don’t know if I’d call them my “favorites,” but certainly the most immersive projects to-date were the indie horrors I produced and acted in called Cross Bearer and The Cemetery. It was a difficult time, but I’m proud of my first attempts at producing features. I’d like to think my favorite projects are the ones that are being actualized now, or ones that have yet to be conceived; and, yes, that is a cop-out answer.

SB: What’s next on the horizon?

NJ: Making as much quality content as humanly possible. The man behind the fantastic indie horror Pieces of Talent, Joe Stauffer, and I have been teamed up over the last year working in the lab on some future projects, I can be seen in my wonderful boyfriend Henry Zebrowski’s upcoming Netflix comedy special The Characters (out March 11th), I also just released a short I created entitled Behind Closed Doors that’s a fun sexy little piece of femme fatale noir. You can check that out via the horror blog Day Of The Woman run by filmmaker/writer/badass BJ Colangelo. Beyond that, being a professional stunt performer I am stunt coordinating and doing some stunt work for a pretty cool horror movie. I unfortunately can’t say much else about that right now, but it’s gnarly. In both the cool and disgusting forms of the word.

INTERVIEW: Uwe Boll
uwebolljpg-64b556_1280w Director Uwe Boll shouldn’t need much of an introduction to film fans. Quite the controversial figure, it seems if he’s not making films that divide opinion, he’s pissing off the people that are. I was privileged enough to speak to Uwe recently and, well, I’ll let you decide if he’s the contentious character you may think he is… Read on...
