Cathedrals will fall, the river will run red... and THE BIRD will be SLAUGHTERED!

REVIEW: Pig

Review by- “Scratchy” Pete Ellott.

“…This truly is a psycho holiday…”

From 2010 and not to be confused with movies of the same title, this one from Director Adam Mason. Released for free and never having seen the light of day with a legitimate hard copy format, the Director himself has tried to distance himself from this one.

That in itself could well be a publicity stunt, having claimed he may well head out into deserted territory and destroy the hard drive that contains this gem of indie film.

From my perspective after finally getting to watch it, it deserves a release and stands out as a genius piece of low budget filmmaking. Hard as it maybe for some to watch…or should I say endure?

Pig1

Running.

Hard and bloody…

Mess.

Recaptured. Hugged. Hit.

“I didn’t want to do this.”

With a Liverpool kiss…

Over and over again.

Washed clean of blood becomes an obsession.

Keeping her in doubt with low self-esteem…

Are the rules of the game.

And life seeps out.

“It’s what I had to do. There goes another one.”

Seasoned.

As chained and bound companions look on.

Time for chow. Bled out. Force fed. Forced to watch.

As offal is removed. Up to your elbow in guts.

Washed down with a classy bottle of red…

As your victim gets a golden shower…

To break her down.

And the chosen one bordering on insanity, pregnant and at most times incoherent…

Urges you on.

Her “Daddy.”

Takes timeout for target practice.

On a turkey shoot.

“Take down.”

Praise, love and hatred at the flick of a switch…

In your mind.

Tormented and abused.

Defiled…

Even in death.

Sharing the love and pushing the boundaries even further.

“All part of the plan.”

Drugged up, with a little added jus…

“A little flambé.”

Of human flesh.

Cross dressing rape. Ridiculed.

Death gets you hard.

And after the clean-up it’s just like business as usual.

With a little help from your friends.

Whatever “normal” is.

In that mind of yours.

What a breath of fresh air. Providing so much with so little, this one rated very highly in my list of Indie favourites. It just kind of soared there without warning…

But left its mark.

A 70 minute one shot take out of the 90 minute runtime. Like a free for all delve into psychotic depravity – if there was ad-libbing here it was smooth as a knife slicing through flesh. One could really appreciate the almost maniacal character study effect that lead actor Andrew Howard gave us. Nothing short of brilliant on both counts.

Grainy and gritty. Downright dirty.

Not an easy watch for those unaccustomed to this level of violence and exploitation. For those of you that are seasoned veterans, I have no doubt you will relish the “different” that this one provides you with.

Simply put, this one needs a hard copy release.

Enjoy it for free in the meantime if you can find it…as it was intended…

To fuck with your head and fuck with the scene.

Up to its hilt.
