ANNOUNCING: The 2018 Fractured Visions Guest Judges!

As filmmakers we know how difficult it can be to get your film in front of the right people, which is why we’re helping our selection get to the people who can help bring an indie film to its audience.

We’re honoured to announce the 2018 Fractured Vision Film Festival judges are:

CHRIS CROW – Filmmaker

Chris Crow is a BAFTA nominated writer / director who has directed 4 feature films to date; Devil’s Bridge, Panic Button, The Darkest Day and most recently, the BAFTA Cymru-winning, The Lighthouse. Chris is attached to direct the dystopian Sci-Fi Horror Finley’s Dark in 2018, written by BIFA nominated Christopher Hyde (I Am Not A Serial Killer) and Produced by Ray Marshall and Matt Marshall (Blind Monkey Pictures and Festival Films).

DOMINIC BRUNT – Filmmaker / Actor

Dominic Brunt is a British actor and director. He has directed three films to date, Before Dawn, Bait and Adult Babies. Dominic also featured in the British movie Inbred, playing the role of chainsaw welding Podge. Dominic is a self-confessed zombie obsessive and together with fellow Emmerdale actor Mark Charnock, conducted Leeds’ first zombie film festival.

GILES EDWARDS – European Head Of Acquisitions & Development for MPI/Dark Sky Films

With 17 years in film distribution, first in marketing then as Head Of Acquisitions for Metrodome Distribution (where he picked up The Innkeepers, What We Do In The Shadows, Housebound, Spring, The Tribe, White God, The Falling and Big Bad Wolves among many other films for the UK), Giles consulted for pioneering SVOD platform Shudder in 2016, as it rolled out internationally across the UK, Australia and Germany, before becoming Head Of Acquisitions & Development (Europe) for MPI/Dark Sky Films, the producers of such acclaimed titles as Stake Land, House of the Devil, Starry Eyes and Catfight. He continues on a never-ending quest for bold, audacious, provocative writers and filmmakers who might genuinely be able to scare the shit out of him.

SHELAGH ROWAN-LEGG – Filmmaker / Film Critic / Programmer

Shelagh Rowan-Legg is a programmer for FrightFest, a Contributing Editor for ScreenAnarchy, and a critic for Sight & Sound. Her book The Spanish Fantastic: Contemporary Filmmaking in Horror, Fantasy and Sci-Fi was published in 2016, and her second short film, Flow, has played at festivals around the world.

EMMA DARK – Filmmaker / Actress / Film Writer

Emma Dark is an award-winning filmmaker, actress and model, specialising in the Horror, Sci-Fi and Fantasy genres. Her first self-produced and directed short film, Seize the Night, won her the Rising Star award at Northern Ireland’s Yellow Fever Independent Film Festival. Emma recently completed her second short film – Sci-Fi/Horror Salient Minus Ten, which features Star Wars actor Alan Austen in the lead role, with cinematography from internationally renowned DoP Philip Bloom.

She is currently a contributing writer for Digital Filmmaker Magazine and an honorary patron of the arts at The Misty Moon Film Society. Emma regularly appears as a Film and TV guest at genre conventions around the UK.

DIEGO LÓPEZ – Editor / Writer / SITGES Film Festival.

Diego has collaborated in several publications and websites such as Fangoria, Gorezone, Sci-Fi World and Amazing Monsters. Diego has been juror in national and international festivals; he has been invited in various panels about Spanish fantastic films and he has collaborated with the director Javier Perea for the documentary La Sonrisa Del Lobo, an appreciation of the character Waldemar Daninsky, created by the actor and filmmaker Jacinto Molina (A.K.A Paul Naschy).

Diego has also directed the documentary: Herederos de la Bestia, with David Pizarro; a film which focuses on  Álex de la Iglesia masterpiece The Day of the Beast. Since 2010 he is the programmer of the Brigadoon section in SITGES – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia and member of the selection committee.

RICHARD ELLIOTT & JAMES BLOWER – Heads of 88 Films

88 Films is an all rights multi-platform distributor of feature films. They specialise in releasing some of the best content from around the world to UK customers. They are the market leader in releasing forgotten cult horror films from around the world and produce bonus features and special packaging to enhance to experience of our products.

RICHARD GEDDES – Head of International sales for Sharp Teeth Films

Richard Geddes has been in the UK film industry for a number of years. At Terracotta Distribution he has been involved in the release of various titles from Asia with titles as catchy as Revenge: A Love Story, Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack, Hero of Shaolin and Big Tits Zombie.

He has also worked a programmer for Terracotta Far East Film Festival bringing many UK premieres of Chinese language films to London’s big screen. In 2015 he and colleagues at Terracotta launched Sharp Teeth Films to expand their line up into non-Asian titles. He now heads up their international sales agency helping independent genre and documentary titles get released overseas.

He is passionate about all types of cinema but is particularly fond of crime, horror and kung fu.

JAY KAY – Film Journalist

Residing on the outskirts of Camp Blood in the famed backwoods of Blairstown, New Jersey, Jay Kay is a champion for filmmakers and their visions on many different platforms. Increasing the number of genre film fests that he becomes involved with each year, he is a Judge for the LA based Etheria Film Night as well as the NYC based FEARnyc, the UK based Dead of Night Film Fest and the Georgia based Women in Horror Film Fest. He has parlayed his love of the horror genre into a broadcasting career with Horror Happens Radio as well as writing, acting, filmmaking, programming and more… With his body of work and the growing reputation in the horror community, Jay Kay also dabbles in horror journalism with his work featured on several multimedia horror platforms including HorrorHound Magazine, HorrorNews.net, Tom Holland’s Terror Time and Horror News Network.

If you’ve created a gut-crunching feature, a throat-ripping short or an eye-opening documentary that will set the horror world on fire – we want to see it! The festival will be taking place at Tramshed Cinema, where everyone will be welcome to kick back, grab a beer and enjoy the films in luxury thanks to Tramshed’s beautiful seating (courtesy of British airlines!).

The festival will be offering awards in the following for both features and shorts:
