Cathedrals will fall, the river will run red... and THE BIRD will be SLAUGHTERED!

New York’s Longest-Running Independent Film Studio, TROMA Entertainment (The Toxic Avenger, Cannibal! The Musical) Releases HECTIC KNIFE, Which Critics Are Calling “Hilarious,” “The Ultimate Drinking Film,” “Brilliant!” and “(Hectic Knife is well), weird in all the right ways!” – Chris Gore, Film Threat. Troma is already legendary for the crazy, out-there, industry disrupting cult movies like Nukem’ High. But, after over 40 years, the release of HECTIC KNIFE is truly “Something no one has ever seen!” and “The Birth of a New Genre, WTF Cinema!” – Jeff Krulik, Heavy Metal Parking Lot!

Hectic Knife is the story of “Hectic Knife” a put upon vigilante, Super Hero with bizarrely, limited super powers. The city he protects is being terrorized by the little-kid-head-exploding, psychopathic, maniac Piggly Doctor — an evil Super Villain bent on world domination! Hectic Knife is the bizarre, first-feature from director Greg DeLiso. It’s a strange new, meta-comedy where nobody is safe and nothing is as it seems… So join Hectic as he fights crime in this high octane, thrill ride that’s the perfect satire for the comic book movie era!

“HK” is a 6-year-in-the-making labor or love, blood, sweat, tears and… bagels!?. Influenced by everything from David Lynch to David Wain, HK has been called the perfect mashup of Eraserhead and Airplane! Created by Peter Litvin & Greg DeLiso, a duo that met in high school and split the filmmaking responsibilities very evenly. They co-wrote Hectic, with Peter producing, starring in the titular role and doing all of the original music — not to mention the sound mix, ADR and fx recording. For DeLiso, this would be first first movie — starting at just 24 and having already completed a documentary (Canada’s Best Kept Secret 2011) and viral, comedy web series called Fake Henrik Zetterberg. Along with directing Greg, co-wrote, shot and edited the movie and did everything else under the sun — including the stop motion animation in his parents basement!

The project was funded every way possible and was a truly DIY, out-of-pocket, no permit, guerrilla filmmaking endeavor. The budget was raised the old fashioned way; credit cards, indiegogo and the good ol’ piggy bank! The production was very similar to Peter Jackson’s (first film) Bad Taste where the filmmakers shot once a week for almost 2 years and then began the 3 year editing, visual FX and ADR process. Once completed, Greg called up Lloyd Kaufman at the famed Troma Entertainment, and within a week a contract was presented; thus fulfilling the lifelong dreams of Peter & Greg! Since signing in 2016, Hectic Knife can be found on:

INTERVIEW: David Naughton
untitled It’s not every day you get to speak to the lead actor in possibly your favourite horror film of all time. Especially on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are usually rubbish! David Naughton should need no introduction to horror fans. Back in 1981, An American Werewolf In London had unprepared cinema goers laughing heartily one second and jumping out of their seats in terror the next. Its tale of two young American tourists coming face-to-teeth with a legendary lycanthropic beast perfectly married a genuinely funny script with razor sharp editing, groundbreaking special effects and a flawless cast to create a monster movie that is still many people’s benchmark today Read on...
