Sweet Madness
- By @TheBlueTook
Every day I check my emails in the hope there’s one from Peter Dukes - Texas-born writer/director - containing details of a new film he’s created. Every damn day, ladies and gents. Alas, he unfortunately doesn’t MAKE one every day. ‘Lazy’ and ‘selfish’ I hear you exclaim, but agonisingly true nonetheless.
One of my favourite filmmakers currently plying his trade, Peter has featured several times on The Slaughtered Bird - a few of his films can be found HERE - and we’re massive fans, so it was like a giant cinematic high-5 when he got in touch yesterday and shared the lowdown on his imminent Harley Quinn fan film, SWEET MADNESS.
Starring Madeleine Wade and Micah Fitzgerald, Dukes‘ short is due for release in the coming weeks. PD explained, “I don’t ordinarily do fan films, but I made an exception this one time because I think the character of Harley Quinn is fabulously complex and entertaining; and being that she’s never been shown any proper love in the live action Batman canon I thought I’d show her some myself.”
SWEET MADNESS is about Harley regaining her independence and finding her inner strength by turning the tables on her creator, a premise which has already inspired Toronto Comic-Con to invite lead actress Madeleine to come (in character) and screen the film, as well as sign posters for fans.
All I can share with you at this stage is a poster and some cool character one-sheets, but more will be revealed as and when we get it.

2 of Britain’s leading horror websites, UK Horror Scene and The Slaughtered Bird, have teamed up to bring the UK a new horror film festival in May 2017.
TripleSix will be a 2-day horror film festival in Manchester over the Bank Holiday weekend 27th & 28th of May 2017. Not only that, but TripleSix have partnered with AMC cinema in Manchester to bring the best in comfort, state-of-the-art facilities and professionalism.
Star of one of our most popular TV soaps, Emmerdale, Dominic Brunt is known in every household here in the UK. On top of this, he's also forging quite a reputation as one of the best indie horror filmmakers in Britain - his directorial debut feature, Before Dawn, was very well received upon its release in 2013 and more recently his second feature, Bait, has accumulated plenty of critical acclaim worldwide.
