TERROR ISLAND OVERKILL – Blutgeright in Todeszone 13
“…Time to pay the price…in blood and guts…”
From German Director and friend Marius Thomsen comes this 74 minute entry of German Splatter in all its gory glory.
Typical of the genre in many ways and with a storyline that rings true with action and horror lovers alike (think Rambo, Turkey Shoot, Commando etc), this one is something a little bit special…
As an arsenal…
Is in the making.
Vulnerable? Doomed to die?
“The end of my life – looking into the muzzle of the rifle which is going to kill me.”
And then we begin.
Cop – “Even Harder.”
Pregnant wife.
Normal life.
Shattered by a series of “coincidences” not of their making.
Resulting in death of comrades from years past.
Followed.
Drugged.
Hunting season opens…
And you are the prey.
A highly sought after and paid for prize.
A worthy adversary it would seem.
Loss most personal adds fuel to the fire…
Of burning revenge.
The only option.
“Time to turn the tables.”
As blood sprays…
Bullet wounds…
Double tapped.
Even friends pay the price…
Of loyalty.
New mercenaries added to the humorous mix…
“Action figure included, Hitler-esque with a motorized grinder, Osama - political incorrectness, obsessive masturbator”…
Such accolades to their respective resumes.
But it’s time to play…
Overkill.
As clips are unloaded.
Heads removed.
Swords slice and gouge.
“Open your mind”…
Literally.
A grinding facial leaves little recognition…
At high revs.
Corny one line humour ever present.
As a small army suffers severe consequences.
Leading to a final one on one confrontation…
That packs a punch…
To the very core…
And takes no prisoners.
Yes this one has it all. A lovely example with all you expect from this ever increasingly popular sub-genre of splatter.
The corny one liners work well – I can’t help thinking “Arnie”… The gore is lovely and rich in redness…
For some reason I can’t put my finger on, this one stands out from the crowd and has a peculiar endearing quality.
Yeah, it was an enjoyable excursion to the Bloodshed in Death Zone 13.
