The Paddy Lincoln Gang
- By @TheBlueTook
Folks, first and foremost, I must apologise.
I was given THE PADDY LINCOLN GANG to watch about 2 months ago and didn’t. To blame time issues is disgusting, but it’s true - there’s only so much crime I can fight, women I can satisfy, animals/orphans I can help and naps I can have before I start to become lazy…
Anyhoose, actor Dean and director Ben Jagger; where do I fuckin’ start…
Thanks to a Slaughtered Bird best mate, Judson Vaughan (ace interview by us here), I was given this film, and I can’t thank him enough.
THIS. IS. GREAT.
Set in Los Angeles, we mainly follow the lead-singer of an Irish rock band on the brink of success. For Rob, life is good. In fact, life is fucking ace - the band have a hugely anticipated album on the verge of release by a major record label, they are back in LA from a tour to play in their home town and Rob has Amy Lawhorn as his girlfriend. But something aint quite right.
With a lot of my reviews, I always seem to type “to say any more would give the game away”, or similar. Well it’s true. I don’t lie to you, Birdies.
TPLG is gorgeous looking, beautifully paced, and I can genuinely believe this is what it’s like to be in a cool band. Speaking to brothers Dean and Ben, it seems the budget was about 100-times smaller than it looks too. I demand to be their friend, readers, I do. These fellas are going places.
Dean is a brooding, handsome, talented lead - fit for any red carpet (Hollywood take note***) - and his brother, Ben, certainly knows how to point a camera! I assumed so many things when I was watching it, only because I thought I was dealing with a grander scale. It was only chatting to the brothers after the fact that I realised what a gem I had on my hands.
If you don’t track this down and watch it this week, can you all stop reading my articles please?! Cheers.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
***as a footnote, Dean has agreed to let me on his bandwagon when it all kicks in - I’m just setting it in stone, in case he reneges. 😉
