Cathedrals will fall, the river will run red... and THE BIRD will be SLAUGHTERED!

About ‘THN’

When newborn The Slaughtered Bird horror site took its first tentative, wobbly steps back in January ’14 we really didn’t know what to expect. As massive horror fans we already knew of the more established sites, but it wasn’t until we delved into the world of Twitter that we realised there’s MILLIONS of smaller independent offerings that seemed to have already reviewed the whole spectrum, from Bambi to Bad Taste.
I must admit I was dubious about our ability to get a foothold in this ever-increasing world, especially when a vast amount of similar people doing the same thing refused to acknowledge us or offer any start-up advice. I understand we may have been considered ‘competition’, but in a universe where it’s difficult to make money from reviewing horror I like to think of us all as pulling in the same direction, promoting horror (good, bad, indie, big budget) and pushing it to an audience it deserves.

A few weeks after we progressed from stumbling blindly to semi-controlled baby steps we noticed there was one particular site that was quietly promoting our work and had been since the start, although we were too amateur to notice back then.
This site was a relatively new one too. It’s also horror-based, so why the FUCK were they helping us out when no one else could be bothered?! This site was/is THE HORROR NATION.

Created by partners Heather (@HeatherOmen) and Mike (@HorrorNation), this is also a part-time horror site with big ambitions - America-based, they have gained a stunning following over a relatively short space of time. It was an example of what myself and Folklore wanted to achieve even before we’d had the pleasure of speaking with these 2 lovely people…and now they were helping us!

Since then we’ve all built up a great friendship (albeit via Twitter, texts and emails) and provided advertising and promotion for each other whenever we can. THE HORROR NATION, like us, have ‘recruited’ guests writers (@DieBoogeyManDie, I’m looking at you, bruv!) and grown at a considerable rate – they’ve recently (August ’14) had their millionth site hit!

We’ve discussed teaming up over the months and now we’ve finally done it, in the form of linking, sharing reviews, interviews and banners and generally just spreading “The Slaughtered Horror Nation” love!

Have a click around, enjoy their work and remember to give these folks a follow; you won’t regret it.

We give you THE HORROR NATION……………………..

    • Hi Joe.
Thanks for getting in touch. I’m actually a fan of your work and we have communicated previously I believe regarding ‘Memoirs of the Mysterious’, (Hopefully this is the same Joe Badon?)and I recently added you to our Facebook page. I actually misplaced your email containing ‘Memoirs’ which I was eager to read, but we can definitely sort out a review of your new piece and an interview and offer promotion, no worries. I’ll drop you an email buddy. - FOLKLORE
