Cathedrals will fall, the river will run red... and THE BIRD will be SLAUGHTERED!

WIN I-DEF-I’s album In The Light Of A New Day & Bloodlust Casualty mini album

We’re having a break from the norm today at The Slaughtered Bird and focusing on a local(ish) band that have caught our attention this week. Manchester based I-DEF-I have recently re-released much of their catalog directly from the band via New York based service DISTROKID.

2006 Mini Album ‘Bloodlust Casualty’ (originally licensed via Casket Music / PHD) and 2007 Album ‘In The Light Of A New Day’ (originally licensed via Copro Records / PHD) along with the bands 2 final recordings from 2008 ‘When All We Have Is Failing’ / ‘Circean Kiss’ are now available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Play and more.

No shows are currently planned due to members present day career and family commitments, however tracks from across I-DEF-I’s career have been picking up play on Internet based rock/metal shows in New York, Italy, Canada & more and following recently renewed contact between the rhythm section and management, the band decided to formally re-release their material as both ‘Bloodlust’ and ‘ITLAOND’ have recently seen 10 Year Anniversaries.

Originally released on 26/02/2006 ‘Bloodlust Casualty’ became the fastest selling title on cult UK indie label Copro/Casket, selling out of it’s first 1,000 pressing on 23/02/2006. I-DEF-I gigged and toured with bands such as Stone Sour, Killing Joke, Fear Factory, Breed 77, Mindless Self Indulgence and Dry Kill Logic among others.

They opened the Myspace/Gibson Stage at Download Festival 2006 and were once memorably honored in the Channel 4 program ‘Shameless’ with a flyer of the band’s adorning the Gallagher’s kitchen cupboard across Seasons 5,6,7 and 8 of the cult Mancunian comedy/drama.

In addition to a recently launched Facebook page featuring photo archives, press & radio archives, flyer archives, details of the bands catalog over the years and other curios, the Mancunian metallers have also debuted on Soundcloud this past week, streaming selected tracks from the Distrokid re-releases as-well as their EP ‘A Curse Beneath The Surface’, originally limited to 200 physical copies upon release in 2005.

For your chance to win digital copies of In The Light Of A New Day and mini album Bloodlust Casualty, simply email us here at The Slaughtered Bird ( and tell us why you want ’em – we’ll pick a winner at random. The deadline for emails is midnight on Dec’ 15th GMT.

INTERVIEW: David Naughton
untitled It’s not every day you get to speak to the lead actor in possibly your favourite horror film of all time. Especially on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are usually rubbish! David Naughton should need no introduction to horror fans. Back in 1981, An American Werewolf In London had unprepared cinema goers laughing heartily one second and jumping out of their seats in terror the next. Its tale of two young American tourists coming face-to-teeth with a legendary lycanthropic beast perfectly married a genuinely funny script with razor sharp editing, groundbreaking special effects and a flawless cast to create a monster movie that is still many people’s benchmark today Read on...
