ENDS MEAT is an idea that goes back around fifteen years prior to its release. The concept was pitched by Kris (Heys, writer) to Helen (Lyons-Curran, director) back in the days when making a film was a mere pipe dream. Fast forward to 2016, and Helen was looking for her next project, after asking Kris whatever happened to the idea about the taxi driver?…

A genre mix of Brit-Grit meets Horror-Noir, ENDS MEAT takes place in the City of Manchester, England, and utilises the busy nightlife juxtaposed against Manchester’s abandoned industrial past. Shot during 2016 on location throughout Manchester and Stockport the film delivers high production value for it’s very modest budget.

Helen’s past body of work includes multiple award winning short films, most notably DELICACY(2014), a macabre and misanthropic WWII short. The film won five awards including Best Student Drama at The 2015 ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY North West awards, and BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY at The US HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2015. As well as the wins the film racked up nine more nominations being recognised for Direction, Performance, and Art & Design. The film has screened throughout the UK, as well as festivals on the other side of the pond in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Florida, and New York.

Helen earned her First Class BA Honours in Film & TV Production from The Manchester Film School where she trained in single camera drama.

The film is produced by Helen’s newly established production company, PICKAXE FILMS, is set for a spring 2017 release, and will be playing the international film festival circuit.

INTERVIEW: David Naughton
untitled It’s not every day you get to speak to the lead actor in possibly your favourite horror film of all time. Especially on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are usually rubbish!
